SECURITY TIPS - cPanel Shared Server - Disable Components [INFORMATION]

NOTE:  This is an old announcement which we have posted on 2nd Nov 2010. We re-post it again as a references.  

Dear valued customers,

Due to the recent defacement issue, our server administrator has tightened the security of all shared hosting servers.
Refer to the list of changes below. We have disabled Perl and Apache ExecCGI, the following functions will not work:

Perl and cgi file Disable.
-- Extension:  *.pl, *.cgi

cPanel/Webmail URL
            Disabled –        Working – or
            Disabled –     Working – or   or
            Disabled –          Working – or

            Disabled – Awstats
            Working – Analog
            Working - Webalizer

SSH has been Disabled

Change Password functions in user’s cPanel is NOT Working.
Please contact our Support by submitting a support ticket to http://247Livesupport using your registered email address.

wget functions has been disabled on user level.

PHP disable functions: symlink,shell_exec,exec,proc_close,proc_open,popen,system,dl,passthru,escapeshellarg,escapeshellcmd

Should you find any other features that are not working in your website or you need PERL, CGI, Awstats to work, please do revert back to us via a support ticket. We will move you to a private server environment.
While we understand that this may cause some inconvenience especially in remembering the port number for the cPanel URL, this outweighs the possible risks of defacement.

Rest assured that we are are always trying our best to provide the permanent solution for each problem.
