SHARED HOSTING: Relay Localhost Mail Service Disabled in Shared Server
Posted by on 29 March 2012 10:29 AM

Kindly be informed that  Relay Localhost Mail Service has been disabled in all our Shared Servers.

If you would like to send emails using scripts or localhost it will be possible only when using PHP SMTP Authentication.

In order to comply with all current email standards and to add additional layer of protection to our servers from being used as a platform for unsolicited bulk emails, unauthorized connections or domain spoofing, a mandatory SMTP authentication will be enabled.

This update will not affect mail functionality; however if you use a mail client to manage your emails please ensure you have Authentication option enabled in Outgoing server settings.

If Authentication option is not enabled, you may start receiving the following error:

“Sending'  reported error (0x800CCC78) : 'Cannot send the message.
Verify the e-mail  address in your account properties.
The server responded: 550 Access denied -  Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)'”.

The ways to enable Authentication for the most popular mail clients can be found below:

For Outlook, go to Account Settings > More settings > Outgoing tab.
Check the option 'Server requires authentication' and 'Use the same info as for the incoming server'.

For Mac Mail, go to Preferences > Make sure to choose correct Account from the list of accounts on the left > Account Information >
In ‘Account Information’ please find: ‘Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)’ field, and then select ‘Edit SMTP server list…’option > then
click on Advanced tab and set Authentication option to ‘Password’.
Then please restart your mail client.
