Download & install OpenVPN Connect

Open Play Store and search for OpenVPN

Once installed, open it. You will have to accept all terms and agreements.

You will be given an option to import a profile.

You may close OpenVPN Connect for now. Open a browser, navigate to the download site provided in the activation form to download .ovpn configuration file.

Download .ovpn configuration file

 Once OpenVPN Connect installed, download the .ovpn configuration file from respective VPN server.

You may find download link URL stated in the activation form email you'd received.

Visit the download link URL using your favourite browser and look for file name ended with .ovpn.

You may rename the file to any name but ensure to save the file with extension .ovpn, not as .txt.

Press and hold on the .ovpn file to download it.

In-case of the downloaded file become .ovpn.txt, an extension .txt appended to the original filename. You will need to rename it by removing extension .txt.

There are several ways renaming a file. One of the method is using Android's File Manager.

Locate back the downloaded .ovpn file and rename it. Ensure to remove extension .txt and remain with extension .ovpn.

Import .ovpn file into OpenVPN Connect

Open back OpenVPN Connect application. Go to Import Profile. You will be given 2 methods - URL and File.

Use File instead. Browse back the .ovpn you have downloaded and renamed just now.

Click Ok to confirm the import.

Enter your VPN account's Username.

You may tick Save password if want OpenVPN Connect to remember your VPN password.

Connecting to OpenVPN server

Open OpenVPN Connect application.

Select the intended profile.

Touch the slider button to connect. Enter your VPN account's password.

You may be ask to select available certificate. Select Continue,

Do allow OpenVPN Connect to create a VPN connection.

Disconnect VPN session

Open back OpenVPN Connect application and find your current active VPN profile.

Simply touch the slider will disconnect your VPN connection and thus end the session.

You will be ask for disconnect confirmation. Click Ok to proceed.

Troubleshooting

Log will provide you some hint in-case of unable to make the connection.

Click on the scroll icon on top right-hand corner.
