How do I connect to my Linux server via SSH?

DO NOTE: For our servers, we uses custom SSH port (you will be given the port in your web activation form) for security reasons. By default, the server listens on TCP port 22.

Format entering server's hostname or IP address with custom SSH port as follows:

HOST NAME: SERVER IP ADDRESS
PORT: THE ASSIGNED SSH PORT

Do refer back activation form sent to your email for the correct SSH port

SSH to the Server using PuTTY
  1. Download PuTTY application from following site - https://www.putty.org/ and install it in your workstation;

  2. Key in the IP address of the server in the "Host Name" field and SSH port number in "Port";

  3. Click on "Open" to establish connection to your server.

Once you have connected, you will see the log in screen. To log in for the first time, enter the username and the corresponding password (this is the password that was emailed to you when your server build was completed).

Congratulations, you have successfully connected and logged in to your new server!
